Achievements

A leading exponent of Koodiyattom; Mr. Sivan Namboodiri has performed as a member of the Kerala Kalamandalam troupe in almost all the major centres in India and abroad. His significant contributions to the realm of arts has won him standing ovation in the form of several prominent awards and recognitions. His awards and honours include the Margi Gold Medal for Best Young Koodiyattom Performer (1970, 1971, 1972), Natyakala Ratnam Award of Calcutta Malayalee Association (1992), Junior Fellowship of the Ministry of Human Resources Development, Department of Culture, New Delhi (1995), Kerala Sangeet Nataka Academy Award for Koodiyattom (1998) and the first Mrinalini Sarabhai Award for Classical excellence (1999). Mr. Sivan Namboodiri is also the recipient of the Certificate of appreciation from the Smithsonian Institution, Washington for his outstanding contributions to the dissemination of the art.
